When talking about the different structures inside your mouth, the gums are probably the most sensitive part.

They are responsible in holding the teeth in a well-organized manner, so to facilitate overcrowding. And since there are tiny blood vessels in it, they are also responsible in supplying adequate nutrition to the teeth.

In addition of being the most sensitive, the gums are oftentimes the site of common “easy-to-treat” diseases, and even oral diseases that are quite complicated to cure.
One of these diseases that cause less pain, but a dreadful complication is Gingivitis. It is very common among the people in the United States, and in many other countries as well.
Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gum tissues brought about by an invasion of bacteria. These microorganisms tend to invade the gums, and after penetrating into it, they will reproduce in an adequate number enough to swell the surrounding tissues, or in some worse scenario, uproot a tooth or set of teeth.

Persons who are most at risk to gingivitis are those who are negligent of their oral care. A grimy oral cavity is the best housing unit for bacteria to stay for a longer period of time. Aside from it, people who are suffering for some disease condition such as Diabetes Mellitus, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and AIDS, can also easily acquire the disease due to their suppressed immune system, which is a very common feature of these disorders.

The signs and symptoms of gingivitis are easily recognizable. These include swollen gums, bright-red gums or sometimes may appear purple, mouth sores, easy bleeding on the gum area, and a gum that endures pain especially when pressure is applied.
Recognizing these signs symptoms at once will prompt a person to visit his or her dentist. The dentist will be the one responsible to rule out the disease, and to offer immediate treatment for the condition.

Usually the dentist will perform a thorough clean up after diagnosing it as gingivitis. The concentrated effort to wash off the microorganisms will be done on the teeth and gums, as well as on other surrounding areas inside the mouth. After which, he will remove the plaque that develop on the disease process, and he will ask the person to gargle brine water or other mouthwash that are non-alcohol based.
It is expected that within one to two weeks, the inflammation will be reduce, and a normal gum line will be achieve.

However, if gingivitis is not treated, and no appropriate attention was given, it can result to a more complicated disease called Perionditis, which is already very difficult to cure. Perionditis can cause more pain, and bring more discomfort. It can even totally eradicate every tooth a person has. Usually, the dentist will suggest for a drug therapy session and/or surgical intervention to wipe out the disease. So that means, it will cost a person a greater amount of time and money.

So it is very important to keep in mind that prevention is still better than cure, and while having not acquired this diseases so far, one should observe proper oral hygiene and supplement it with a balance diet.

People experience toothaches of varying degrees of pain. This is because there are several causes of toothache, and different causes call for different treatments.

One common cause of toothache is the presence of cavities. Poor oral habits cause cavities; these are holes on the surface of the teeth. The enamel and dentin are become weak when the simple sugars are converted to acid plaque. Because of the acid plaque, the enamel and dentin fail to protect the pulp of the tooth. The holes start out small, but become larger and larger as it is left untreated. In most cases, the holes trap food particles, thus the problem must be addressed immediately. Cavities cause tooth decay; this is why most people experience toothaches.

While cavities can cause much discomfort to a person, the situation can be prevented from becoming worse. In cases where the tooth decay is just minor, a person can have his or her cavities filled by the dentist. The dentist removes the areas of the teeth with decay. This is done by drilling out the decayed area; it is important not to leave even a pinpoint of cavity, because this can again cause the cavity to spread. After the area with cavity is taken out, the hole is covered with the appropriate filling.

In other cases where the tooth’s state is beyond what filling can do, then the patient undergoes a root canal. This prevents toothaches in the future. Other dentists opt to have the decayed tooth taken out. The tooth is then replaced with a crown or a bridge.

Another cause of a toothache is an impacted wisdom tooth. A wisdom tooth may not grow normally, and this causes the person to feel pain in the gums and the jaw. Since there is not enough space in the gums, then the gums start to swell because of the erupting tooth. In other cases when the tooth does not grow upright, gum pockets form. These pockets trap bacteria, and this leads to a bad toothache.
In some situations, the gum area around the wisdom tooth is cut up to provide space to the new tooth. This remedy works for some people, and they will not need to have their wisdom tooth taken out. However, in cases where the impacted tooth is causing serious problems, then the patient is prescribed to undergo oral surgery. A dentist or oral surgeon performs the procedure; a small cut is made on the gums in the affected area. A portion of the bone may also be taken out to make the tooth extraction easier. Stitches allow the gums to heal faster.

Gum disease also causes toothaches. Gingivitis usually starts when a person fails to brush and floss regularly. In effect, the person’s gums bleeds easily whenever he or she brushes the teeth. Periodontitis develops because of poor oral hygiene, pockets form in between the gums and the teeth. Gums recede as bacteria accumulates; when the situation worsens, tooth loss occurs.

To treat gum disease, regular cleaning is prescribed. Prophylaxes done at least twice a year assure that plaque and tartar do not build up. Scaling and root planing (SRP) is another option for patients with more serious conditions. At the end of the day, it really pays to practice good oral hygiene. By brushing and flossing regularly and properly, a person is less likely to develop gum disease.

Research show that over 5 million people visit their dentist every year with one common problem – toothache. Yes, you read it correctly! Toothache is the main reason why people visit their dentist because they want to be relieved from the pain it brings. Simply put, toothache, scientifically called as odontalgia, happens when the pulp of the tooth is exposed and/or infected. A tooth is composed of three main parts – the pulp, the dentin and the enamel. The pulp is the inner layer which is engulfed by a layer of dentin. The layer of dentin is covered by the hard layer we see called the enamel. When the enamel is damaged, exposing the dentin, a toothache can occur.

The six most common causes of a toothache are as tooth decay, tooth abcess, jaw disease, gum disease, tooth root sensitivities, and a cracked tooth. In the text the will follow, each one will be explained in detail with their corresponding treatment.
First, tooth decay. Tooth decay occurs when a hole is formed in the enamel, thus exposing the dentin. There are cases when the inner pulp is also exposed which causes a severe toothache. Demineralization of the enamel caused by the acids created by bacteria in the mouth is what makes the hole. To avoid having a tooth decay, reducing the amount of sugary foods one consumes should be done. This is because the bacteria feeds on the sugar and starch that is left in the mouth. Brushing and flossing will also stop plaque build-up. A visit to the dentist with a cavity or tooth decay will mean applying a filling to the hole. Larger holes may need a crown. In more severe scenarios, a root canal or tooth extraction may be done to stop the toothache.

A tooth abcess is a complication of an untreated tooth decay. With a tooth abcess, the bacteria has infected the inner pulp of the tooth up to the root causing a very painful toothache. When this occurs, the dentist will have no other choice but to perform a root canal procedure by removing the pulp and filling it with an inert material. If this does not work, then a tooth extraction will be done.
A jaw disease is usually caused by an impact or injury to the head. It is characterized by pain felt in the muscles around the jaw which one can mistake for a toothache. Having a jaw disease often limits the person’s jaw movements. To remedy this, the dentist will fit you with an intraoral splint. If bruxism or teeth grinding is the problem, crowns and other orthodontic treatment may be required to align the teeth.

Build up of plaque (bacteria found in the mouth) or tartar is the main cause of a gum disease. This build-up causes the soft tissues of the mouth to become infected and leads to bleeding gums. When a dentist diagnoses that one has a gum disease, oral hygiene improvement will be advised. In some cases, removal of plaque and tartar will be done. For the more severe ones, the inflammed gum tissue will have to be removed.

Tooth Root Sensitivities occur when toxins dissolve the bone around the root. When this gets dissolved, the root is exposed which can cause sensitivity resulting to a toothache. This can even cause a chronic gum disease. Brushing with flouride toothpaste can help in this situation. Severe situations will need a root canal or tooth extraction procedure to stop the toothache.

Having a cracked tooth is another cause of a toothache. This can occur for a variety of reasons including mouth injuries, bruxism, chewing on rigid objects, and/or exposure to extreme temperature changes. A cracked tooth will expose the dentin or the inner pulp thus the pain that comes with a toothache. Untreated, having a cracked tooth will lead to severe pain because the exposed inner pulp can be infected. Treatment for a cracked tooth can include tooth bonding for mild cases, and root canal or tooth extraction for severe ones.

These are just some of the common causes of a toothache. With any of these causes, it is still best if one sees the dentist to have an accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Toothaches may be considered a minor problem by some people, but there are those people who have low tolerance for pain in the mouth. While toothaches usually stem from different causes, it is common that people want to remedy their pain immediately. Fortunately, there are quick fixes for toothaches. Most simple steps can be done at home, so it can be quite convenient for most people.

One of the easy remedies is to take medication like aspirin or ibuprofen. Painkillers keep the discomfort at bay, and thus allowing a person to function normally. With minor toothaches, the pain usually subsides with medication.

If numbing the pain with medication is not for some people, then perhaps they can try numbing the pain with clove oil. It is important to note that one shouldn’t use pure clove oil as this will only do more harm by damaging the nerves. One who wishes to use clove oil must stick to the over-the-counter kind. A few drops of clove oil may be put in a piece of cotton, and the cotton is placed over the affected area. Some people prefer to put the clove oil directly onto the sore tooth. In other cases, a piece garlic clove is placed upon the sore area.
Another alternative is using vanilla extract. Putting three to four drops of the extract onto the aching tooth helps ease the pain.

Different leaves also help cure and prevent toothaches. A person with a toothache may do well by chewing guava leaves, as this has been proven to stop the pain. Fresh spinach leaves, when chewed, may also provide benefits. These leaves prevent the teeth from decaying, and also make the gums strong. Wheat grass is another helpful remedy. This time, the juice of the wheat grass provides comfort.

Certain barks also have numbing properties. Moreover, making a paste out of vinegar and bay berry bark is another alternative. The paste is put onto the painful area, and the pain goes away. A Margosa tree bark may also used to treat a toothache. The bark is boiled along some cloves. The concoction is strained and put in the freezer. This mix is then put over the affected area.

Putting an ice pack on the cheek of the affected area also numbs the pain. In other cases, some people rub ice on the bone where the thumb and forefinger meet. Rub ice on the hand on the same side as the painful tooth. By rubbing ice in the area for about seven minutes, the pain impulses traveling to the brain’s nerve pathways are blocked.
As much as cold therapy works, gargling with warm water also helps to stop the toothache. One can repeat the procedure if the pain does not go immediately.
The simplest way to treat a toothache is to brush and floss the teeth, that is, if the pain is caused by trapped food particles. Cleaning the mouth provides a fast relief to the person with a toothache.

There are several ways to relieve a toothache, and most remedies can be found easily. These steps can be really helpful, especially when the toothache is just minor.

Who could ever tolerate a toothache? None. Dealing with toothache could actually lead you to sleepless nights as the pain is unbearable. The pain could vary depending on the root cause of the toothache. If the pain and inflammation of the teeth is caused by the cavity, then you need to immediately consult a dentist to be able to extract the tooth or fill the cavity. Also, Pyorrhea, another cause of toothache can be experienced. This can only happen if improper tooth practice are done including incorrect brushing, not chewing of food properly, excessive intake of sugar and a lot more. This kind of tooth disease is actually the promotion of pockets of purulent materials into ones teeth. There are also other causes of toothache and all of them can always bring you a painful experience of dealing with pain. This includes the following: abscessed tooth, sinus problems, sensitive tooth or you may have just undergone a dental procedure.

All these tooth problems have corresponding remedies and if an indication shows serious dental problems, your teeth definitely needs immediate attention. If you are suffering from abscessed tooth, this means that the pulp of your tooth has already died. The pulp of your tooth is important since this has the blood vessels and the nerves that are needed to nourish the tooth. Once the pulp dies, the tooth can be easily prone to infection and could even go as far as the bone. Damage on your tooth’s pulp could not repair itself unlike most of your body parts hence it is utterly important to let your trusted dentist help you in this tooth problem.

A serious toothache definitely needs the assistance of a dentist. But if you are just at home and there is no way for you to visit your dentist, there are simple tips on how you can immediately get rid of your toothache. There are many pills today that can help alleviate tooth pain including aspirin, ibuprofen, and acetaminophen. These pills will help relieve the inflammation of the tooth. Also, oil of cloves can be a great remedy on toothaches. Apply little amount of oil of cloves into the affected tooth area. The oil of cloves will numb the nerves and can help lessen you toothache. Just take extra precaution in applying the oil so it won’t get on the gums. Once this happens, you will feel a burning sensation on the gums which could only worsen the painful feeling.

A cold compress on your cheeks can also help in dealing with toothache as this would lessen the swelling of your tooth. If a cold compress is not available, ice cubes or cold water will also do. If however, you have sensitive teeth, this procedure would only aggravate the pain. Rinsing your mouth or flossing your teeth in order to eliminate all the remaining food particles may also help in preventing severe toothache. These are just recommended remedies to temporarily lessen the unbearable pain. But if the problem persists, it is best to consult your dentist.

Not like any other teeth, the wisdom tooth is probably the most painful one to come out. It is probably like saying, “saving the most aching one for last!”

As what many have experienced, the wisdom tooth does not come out in the scene not until you are between the ages of 17 and 21 years old. But in most cases, it is usually the males who experience the development of this tooth in the later age.
It is called “wisdom tooth” because it grows by the time you are enrolled in college or you have graduated from your course, and in those times you have learned so much knowledge and gained more wisdom in life.

The development of wisdom tooth (or wisdom teeth because it is usually a pair of it that will sprout out) is considered the most throbbing one, since it will just break its way out of your gums, causing an ache over the area for quite some time. You will then experience some difficulty in chewing your food or in having some quality conversations with your friends.

Worse, you can have some infections in your oral cavity, especially within the area surrounding the spot where your wisdom tooth breaks out. Invasion of microorganism to cause infection happens because there is an opening on the tissue that exposes your blood vessels. Additionally, there is also a fracture in the natural lining of your oral mucosa that is supposed to be a protective layer against bad bacteria, viruses or fungi. So expect some lesions or ulcerations to appear when your wisdom tooth is developing.

Pain over the spot where it will grow is the initial signal that the wisdom tooth is about to come out. So you just need a little sacrifice to allow it, because it could be more terrible if it will be trapped within your gum tissues and it won’t come out at all.
Sad to say, some wisdom tooth does not just grow naturally without causing some problems. Some people have experienced some dilemma after their wisdom tooth has made its way out.

A common problem with most wisdom tooth development is that it just won’t fit where it is supposed to be. In other words, there is overcrowding inside the mouth. Likewise, most people may notice that there are changes in the alignment of their other teeth after their wisdom tooth came out. Some teeth are heading east, while others are going west.

Moreover, it can create a wrong angle, making it awkward for the person to eat speak, or it gives some irritating touches on the cheeks, gums or other internal oral structures.

Having such problem will result to some discomforts. So it is better to pay your dentist a visit and allow your wisdom tooth to be checked. A simple solution to treat overcrowding of your or the bad angel of your wisdom tooth is by extraction.
The dentist will perform wisdom tooth extraction so that he can give an adequate space for your other teeth to go back in place, and adjust very well to a comfortable place. Sometime he may recommend you to have some braces if the overcrowding created many teeth to be displaced.

Wisdom tooth is a precious treasure to have, because it denotes that you heave learned much in life. But if it creates discomfort and dissatisfaction in your part, you should opt for its removal to save the rest of your tiny white soldiers.

How terrible has your experience with toothache been? How did you deal with it? How did it affect you in one way or another? A toothache is something that stabs like a knife and which makes your nights sleepless and your days totally terrible. The pain that you may feel varies depending on the intensity of the damage that causes it to occur. Your oral health also comprises your overall health. It could be that your gum is inflamed, you have cavity build up, or even tooth decay that triggers the toothache. There can be a lot of reasons to influence the presence of toothache and only a dentist and a dental x-ray can confirm what is going terribly wrong. The very first thing that can be done is to take a pain relieving drug to ease the ache. In the case that you don’t want to depend on the frequently taken drugs, you can resort to the common home remedies such as chewing onion, a clove of garlic, application of cold ice pack, clove oil, and the likes.

At any rate, antibiotics are often recommended by the dentist especially when there is soreness in the gum line. Before any form of dental procedure is undertaken, it is important to remove the abscess first. The typical reasons that prompt the presence of toothache include those of the excess build up of food particles in the tooth area, swollen gum, caries of the teeth, Pyorrhea disease, improper chewing of food, improper brushing, among others. The food that bears alkali content can henceforth shield you against toothache attack. A proper diet is also going to be helpful for you. Consider the consumption of non-boiled milk, wheat flour, green vegetables, fresh fruits, and unpolished rice. Gourds, cabbage, cucumber, carrots, tomatoes, and spinach are best sources of calcium. Adults require at least 10 grains of calcium from the daily diet as it strengthens the teeth and bones. Lemons and oranges are likewise good sources of calcium as they are rich in vitamin C. More so, they can be trusted to relieve you of toothache.

In case that you suffer from bleeding gums, pineapple, garlic, and grapes are good remedies. If it is swollen and bleeding profusely, it is important to conduct a steam treatment. Executing the teeth exercise is nevertheless the safest and best thing to get busy with. It is significant to chew on hard foods like that of raw vegetables and those of the hard-crusted fruits. Teeth exercise should likewise be done using wheat that is soaked in water.

There is something that you can do to ease your pains and worries regarding toothache. Aside from eating a healthy diet, keeping away from sugary foods and the rest of those that promote the easy wearing of your teeth enamel must henceforth be avoided. Frequent brushing, using an effective mouthwash, and seeing a dentist from time to time are just among the ways to keep you away from toothache and the terrible pain that it may heap you with.

The most common of it is the tooth decay which is manifested with holes in our teeth and the erosion of the protective shield called enamel. It wears down our enamel and causes the living tooth tissues expose to toxic bacteria.

However for those who are already facing toothache once in a while, there are some home remedies to cure your toothache.

On the particular tooth that caused pain, put a clove of garlic with a pinch of rock salt to alleviate the pain. There are some occasions that it even heals the pain.

Alternatively, you may mix two to three drops of pure clove oil with one-fourth teaspoon of olive oil. Soak a piece of cotton ball to the oil mixture and placed the soaked cotton beside the affected tooth. If the root of the pain is one of the molar teeth, put the cotton ball on top of it and slightly bite it to hold the cotton ball in between your teeth. You must leave it in your teeth as long as you can bear and take it. The effect is fast so you can expect the pain to alleviate soon.
If you want to have back the tiptop condition of your teeth, it can be remedied by chewing a clove of garlic on daily basis in the morning.

Another helpful spice for tooth remedy is onion. Place the onion in the affected tooth or gum to ease the pain. Also, consuming one raw onion every day will protect your teeth from any dental problems. However the onion must be chewed properly to release the bactericidal properties of the onion. It can also kill the germs in your mouth as short as three minutes of chewing.

The extracted juice or the chewing of wheat grass can ease the pain of toothache. It is also considered a great mouthwash substitute as it drags out the bacteria hidden in the gums line and in the rim between the teeth.
Another kitchen item you can use is pepper. Create a mixture of dentrifrice by adding a small amount of pepper to a quarter teaspoon of salt. Also, a pinch of pepper with a clove oil alleviates the toothache.

A paste from the bark of bay berry mixed with vinegar is also known to be a good pain reliever for any toothache.

There are indeed many options or alternative homemade solutions from your kitchen items that can cure toothache. However if the pain persists for days, then in such case the patient should be taken to the dentist for further evaluation.

The acuteness of a toothache can vary from mild to recurring condition coupled with severe and unbearable sensation. Tooth pain can also be goaded by taking in foods that are neither too cold nor too hot. For this reason, getting into a thorough oral examination that comprise of a panoramic x-ray can assist in determining the roots and causes of toothache.

For severe cases, a simple toothache can lead to a more serious dental problem. This can be in the form of a cyst or tumor in the gum area. This condition should be treated with utmost attention since it has greater tendencies of recurring especially if it is a benign dental state.

The teeth are an important part of every human body. And just like any body parts, this must also be properly maintained to prevent future problems. The dentist, who specializes in all teeth problems advise everyone to take proper care of the teeth since it can be easily damaged. Those who love eating sweets, drinking soft drinks and who practice improper brushing of teeth must now leave this kind of lifestyle as the tooth condition is put at risk. To help keep your teeth in excellent condition, there are several steps on how to take care of them. For one, the sweets, sugars and other artificial sweeteners must be taken out of your diet. The more sugar you consume, the bigger the possibility of having to encounter tooth problems. Among the inevitable problems if sweet foods are not avoided is tooth decay.

Tooth decay could be easily spotted and you will definitely feel excruciating pain even before it is detected. The black holes or the jagged ones could be prevalent. However, in the early stage of tooth decay you can notice your teeth to have white and roughish spot and the outer layer of your teeth will start to crumble. As the situation worsens, the tooth decay will look like a dark shadow or you can see a dark spot or even a line on each tooth. The front surfaces of the front teeth let you easily detect tooth decay. However, those at the back portion could be difficult to detect.

Apart from the black spots, you also have to be alarmed if you are experiencing extreme toothache. Once these symptoms are present, then the best possible solution is to immediately see your dentist. Though many are scared of seeing their dentist, you are left with no other choice as tooth decay must be easily remedied so you don’t have to deal with all the excruciating pain. Aside from too much pain, tooth decay could also lead to tooth loss. Once this tooth problem is ignored, the situation could only get worse and you will be required to spend huge amount of money. If you are really scared of visiting the dentist, it is now high time to brush your teeth and start getting rid of all the sweet foods.

Many people are ignoring teeth problems and they will just act on this matter once the worst case scenario happens. To prevent this from happening, you have to properly practice all the steps in taking care of your teeth. Brushing the teeth is the most important step. This will help you get rid of the food particles that could trigger any tooth problem. After brushing it is also advised to floss at least once a day. And most importantly, avoid the foods that are not good for your teeth. These foods may be tempting but could definitely lead you to tooth decay. All these three steps are sure fire way of preventing the most dreaded tooth problem—the tooth decay.
